For Ethiopia’s Most Vulnerable Children…

Who are we
The Hope and a Future Charity was founded in 2007 by Kevin and Christine Keenan following a humanitarian trip to the town of Shashemene in the south of Ethiopia. The primary aim of the charity is to show God’s love to some of the poorest people in Shashemene in a practical and meaningful way. The charity is overseen by a Board of dedicated people from Randalstown.

Helping to Support over 50 Families
Youth Centre
Young people in Shashemene have little or no opportunity to participate in youth activities. The newly built Youth Centre will provide them with the opportunity to experience not only indoor and outdoor games, but also art, crafts, music and drama.

The provision of a library will give the young people access to books and a place to study.

Disability Centre
Children with disability and their families face extreme hardship. The children and young adults rarely receive appropriate assessment of their condition or a formal diagnosis. They have little or no access to specialist equipment. The new centre will provide access to occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. It is anticipated that the charity will provide disability equipment and aids including wheel chairs, walking aids and specialised footwear.

How Can You Help?

The charity welcomes donations of furniture, clothes, toys, books and other household goods which can be sold in our charity shop outlets.
Good saleable furniture can be collected within a 25 mile radius. The charity welcomes house clearances and a furniture moving service can be provided.

Regular financial giving to the charity maintains the help and support which is so greatly needed in Ethiopia. To finance 2 Schools, daily food for 500 children, salaries for 50 Staff, building maintenance, utilities, uniforms etc requires £5000 per month. Please contact us if you would like to help financially support these projects.

The charity welcomes people of all ages, both male and female, to volunteer in its charity shops. Volunteering can provide meaningful activity, boost self esteem, help form friendships, and is good for mental and emotional health.
